Our History

The Institute for Financial Integrity (IFI) is the latest of several institutions established and led by renowned illicit finance experts Juan Zarate, Danny Glaser, and Chip Poncy to help protect the integrity of the financial system and combat threats to collective security.

2001
Design of the Global Counter-Illicit Finance Regime
Following the 9/11 terrorist attacks, Juan, Danny, and Chip served in many roles at the U.S. Department of the Treasury’s Office of Terrorism and Financial Intelligence (TFI), the Financial Action Task Force (FATF), and other U.S. and multinational entities to build global standards and coalitions against money laundering and terrorist financing and lead innovative financial pressure campaigns against rogue regimes and groups.
2014
Financial Integrity Network is Founded
Juan and Chip founded the Financial Integrity Network (FIN) as a premier strategic advisory firm dedicated to assisting clients in designing and implementing best-in-class financial integrity strategies, policies, systems, and controls to combat and protect against the full range of illicit financing threats. In addition to advisory services, FIN developed and delivered innovative training and certification programs to equip clients with the expertise, skills, and judgment needed to address evolving sanctions and financial crime risks.

2019
FIN Merges with K2 Intelligence
FIN merged with K2 Intelligence, an industry-leading investigative, compliance, and cyber defense services firm founded by Jules Kroll and Jeremy Kroll. The firm was renamed K2 Integrity.
2020
Danny McGlynn joins K2 Integrity
Former US Treasury official Danny McGlynn joined K2 Integrity to help manage and expand its online products and services team, with particular focus on the Dedicated Online Financial Integrity Network (DOLFIN). DOLFIN® is a tech platform that equips financial integrity professionals with the training, continuing education, expert insights, resources, and tools needed to protect the integrity of the global financial system.

Development of Industry Certifications
K2 Integrity announced the launch of DOLFIN’s first certification—the Certified Risk Management Specialist – Global Sanctions (CRMS-GS) Program—to provide participants across the private and public sectors with the expertise, skills, and judgment needed to address the risks that accompany global sanctions. In the same year, in response to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, K2 Integrity partnered with the U.S. Department of State to develop and deliver a Russia sanctions certification program to vulnerable jurisdictions around the world.
2024
Launch of Institute for Financial Integrity
In January, Juan, Danny, and Chip helped launch the Institute for Financial Integrity (IFI) as an entity dedicated to protecting the financial system from illicit use and combating threats to collective security through cutting edge research, education, and training powered by the DOLFIN platform. Global business executive Grant Kreft was named CEO of IFI to lead the company’s growth and expansion.
